The following sunscreens are selected because I have either personally tested them out and loved them, or many of my clients use them and they work. I did my best to select non-toxic, non-nano zinc oxide based formulas that still work for acne prone skin. Note that NOT all of the following work for ALL of my clients, SPFs can be difficult! These here, however, are some of the best bets when it comes to sunscreen for acne-prone skin.
Derma E Sun Protection Mineral Powder SPF30 – do you find that all sunscreens break you out? Your best bet could be powdered sunscreens such as this one, which doesn't contain any of the potentially clogging ingredients as many other sunscreens. This one contains pretty clean ingredients and some super helpful for acne, such as vitamin E and green tea leaf extract!
MyChelle Dermaceuticals Sun Shield Unscented SPF 28 – This is an unscented, mineral-based sunscreen with Aloe and Vitamin E to soothe and protect. The formula is lightweight and absorbs quickly. Definitely a good mineral sunscreen that won’t clog your pores, especially in this price range.
– If you prefer a tinted SPF, this one is great! I use the lighter shade (Light/Medium) on its own, or the darker one (Medium/Dark) as tan drops (mixed with another SPF or moisturizer).
The following sunscreens have been suggested to me by my clients and readers and I loved their ingredient lists! I will test them out in the future, and they are here to give you more options.
